I recently received an email from one of my clients
containing great news for my local Southern Alberta customers .. He said:
"This is Lee Purnell. I just thought I would
send a little note to let you know that I finally got the Free Altavista
Internet into Lethbridge. I found an e-mail address of the man that is in
charge of spreading the Altavista Free internet. The article said that
they were spreading into Europe. So I thought what the heck I'll see if he
would be interested in Lethbridge. So I sent him an e-mail and asked him
to do it. Then I sent a e-mail to everyone that I have addresses for up
there and asked them to send the same type of e-mail.
"The next morning this David Emanuel returned my
message and said that He had never been in Lethbridge but he had received
letters from a lot of friendly people in that area. He said that there
would be a number for Free internet in the Lethbridge area within 48
hours. He was right, there is now free internet from AltaVista in that
area. I told every body that you would help them download it if they had
trouble. Hope you don't mind. It may even help spread you business. So,

Free Internet Access
It takes
only a quick 600K download and short 1 page signup form. System
requirements are a Windows9x PC running IE4 or higher. We are holding our
breath for a Linux version to be made available. The AltaVista free
internet service is provided via partnership with California based 1stUp.com
who also provide this same service to some 50 other sites including Excite.com
among others. The core operations are identical for each of these 50 sites
but we prefer AltaVista over Excite for example because we are not
inundated with unsolicited email. Other alternative free internet services
include Freei.net or NetZero.com, but these provide no local Southern
Alberta access numbers at this time. |
