'the big R.D.' |

ot so Super .. a rash of defective LS120 120MB superdisks.
In the distant past I used to recommend the internal IDE Panasonic LS120
120MB 'superdisk' floppy drives. No longer.
First all my suppliers quietly stopped carrying the drive last year. No reason
given. I personally had such a drive installed on one of the office PCs. It
inexplicably no longer reads any of my high capacity disks. I can't replace or
fix it and many of my users are in the same boat, no longer covered under
warranty and stuck with disks that cannot be read. I'm sorry, there is nothing I
can do.
Although many just use a CD-ROM burner for data backup, but the burn process
can be time consuming with some risk of creating defective disks and is limited
to only 600M per disk. Once created, however, the data is available for offsite
backup and storage. For SOHO or users requiring quick backup and need offsite
storage of data or to transfer data between offices, I really like the removable
HD tray solution.
Can
be used as a fast, high-capacity, removable backup system, just add any IDE
device (an old HD works great).
- Can providing the ability to run multiple operating systems and
applications on the same group of PCs
- Can be used for transporting huge files or databases from one location to
another
